Invisionfree VS Zetaboards

Which one is better? If I were you, I would defaintly stick with Zetaboards. They seem to have an overall better smoothness, and easier usage. If you are used to invisionfree, though, you should probably stick with invisionfree. After trying both out, zetaboards seems to be easier to use and has a smoother look. Happy foruming! 😀

I so do not like either one. Invisionfree, you have to upload each image for a template and that is annoying. Zetaboard have huge advertisements for their revenue. I go with paid software. So much better.

I have used both, and don't really mind either one.
However, I transferred a test website to ZB and then when I decided I liked it, I polled my members on my forums to see if they would like the upgrade.
The vote was unanimous. The upgrade took place soon after and our forums have been better since.

Is your favorite forum software really relevant? This topic about about Zetaboards vs. IPB 1.3 as oposed to SMF vs phpBB vs MyBB, which is what it's turning in to.

Zetaboards is far superior, in my opinion,. Although it is not preferable to self hosting forums, I do think that, as a software, it is actually not too far below the par. If they allowed you to host it yourself and added a more customizable template system it might be a lot better. Not a fan of javascript mods myself and the 4 or so templates you can use total, but that's more than some (lame) phpBB hosts. I really like the ZB admin CP a lot more than invisonfree. It's several times less complex if you ask me and easier to navigate. You can tell, though, that the creators were basing some of their ideas off of IPB 1.3. They aren't that far apart, but if you compare Zetaboards to IPB 3.x or maybe late 2.x the gap is astounding.

In a nutshell

Real IPB > Zetaboards > Invisionfree

IMO, Zetaboards has better features, a nicer layout and a cleaner and easier-to-use Admin CP. It also has really top-notch security which is probably the best around for remotely hosted forums. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).

So yes, Zetaboards for me. I don't 'hate' Invisionfree, but it does seem to be pretty outdated. I think Jcink provides more than Invisionfree, but I haven't really used it so I can't confirm that.

If asked this a year ago I would have said IF. But I think ZB has grown on me.
Its a very user friendly software.
Of course Im speaking as being a regular member on forums using these softwares. I wouldn't run either personally.

The ACP isn't that bad lol.

And...the template stuff almost always goes to above the copyright, JS, and Below the Board anyway...lol @Cosmic.

Hmm, none but if you insist me to answer it would have to be..here's the great debate.

With Invision Free you can install more modification's but the theme's they have are really messy plus I don't think they give you the option to edit them which is a nightmare. Plus it is basically a copy of IP.Board which most member's these day's are familar with the log-in and registration system, when ZetaBaord's you can't install the modification's you may want suppense on what genre your forum's based on. ZetaBoard's theme's are much nicer though but most themes don't come with a icon/macro set as Invision free theme's do come with set's. Also you don't need to go about looking for a smiley set as the smilies on ZetaBoard are nice and don't have stupid flag's on them. So personally I don't know.

If I were to chose one it would have to be ZetaBoard's but if I had an option none.

If you are going to pay $250 in ad removal, why not pay for a domain and hosting? That way you would be rid of your stupid Evony ads as well as Zetaboards...

I've used ZB before and I have paid for ad removal. If your site has any kind of traffic at all, you'll use that up in about two weeks.

Your talking roughly $10 a month. I can get VPS hosting for that. :rofl:

I have used both and if I had to choose between them, I would choose neither and move to a different host, which is exactly what I did.

For my staff and I, the new features in ZB do not make up for the changes and features removed from IF.. and IF's lack of features compared to what is offered in ZB, do not make up for the features and abilities missing in ZB but still found in IF.

Especially if, there are other free IPB hosts that have all of the features missing in IF, even though they run the same version of IPB as IF.

That being said, I wouldn't pick either, and would go with a host that has all of the features found in ZB, but is still IPB based.

And that, is exactly what I did.

If you are so bothered by ads then simply get firefox and use adblock and pay nothing for ads to be removed for good.

IF is alright but not having the ability to use more then one skin and the crappy bulk mail system made me convert my IF board to ZB and I been happy with it.

Zetaboards is made by the same company, and is the upgraded version of Invisionfree. It's like comparing Softwarenamev1 and softwarenamev2. Of course the newer one will have more features.
