I just tired a trial of Ip.Board and it is amazing,

What do you think of Ip.Board?

Much better than vBulletin, no matter how you put it.
I am not sure,
Vb 3.8 was good, But I am not sure about Vb4 £125 for the basic software and £190 for full,

If my forum got big I am not sure what one I would use, But I think Ip.Board is amazing. But more people like Vb

IPB is the future in my opinion. I would get it if I had the spare cash. It's frustrating that I don't.

I've tested my friend's version of it a few times. It's really just... wow. I mean they have drag and drop for forum management, and so much more control than what I have right now for MyBB. And they also have features that aren't even available as plugin.

They also made a good few features that were only available for plugin under 2.3 features, such as the minimum posts to view a forum, the report centre, and a whole range of other things.

The only one thing that irks me is why SQL management is under support. That really should be under system.

Also they are really good on the user side. The threaded PM system is a great addition (even though Zetaboards had it years ago). The profile layout is pretty good, though I prefer the one in 2.3. (Personal preference here).

All in all the IPS did a great job on this one. And now for the money to buy a licence...

Its a pretty good software.
However you will need to spend $25 every six months (or $50 a year) to receive support, software updates / upgrades.

That is a major argument for buying vB over it, I know. Would it be easier to pay a once off payment of $190 for the software + updates for the entire 4.x series, or a once of payment of $150 + $50/year?

I'm inclined to disregard cost, though. I spend more than that on call credit a month.

To be honest, IPboard and Vbulletin are my favorite. I have both paid licenses. 🙂 Either one is great
