Ip Man 3 beats Star Wars: : The Force Awakens

Interesting to see Ip Man winning the crowd there, given that Star Wars fanbase is bigger and the franchise has been around for a long time. Perhaps because it's an Asian movie?

I had only seen Ip Man 3 and while I enjoyed the fighting sequences, the plot is not as captivating as the previous movies. Congratulations for Ip Man, I guess. 🙂

Yes, I think it is winning the crowd there because it is an Asian movie. When I went to see the film (in the UK), there was only like 7 people but I guess I did go during off-peak hours. It is definitely not as popular in the UK though and only available in some cinemas.

Same, haha, I only seen Ip Man 3 although I did see the fighting scenes of 1 and 2 on YouTube so it was quite easy to follow. I agree that this one is not as captivating as the previous movies; it seems like that they ran out of things to talk about. The fighting scenes was very good though although I much preferred if Mike Tyson and Donnie Yen continued their fight after the alarm went on. It was also sad to see Cheung Wing-sing die, I guess they won't be making an Ip Man 4. Finally, I would prefer if Bruce Lee had more than 2 scenes in the film.

Never heard of it. But are you talking about it beat sales of the movie? I mean Star Wars grossed like $1.2 billion worldwide. So I'm not sure what will beat that.

Yes, I mean sales of the movie. This was only the case in Singapore and I think Malaysia as well so not worldwide. Star Wars definitely made more overall.

When I went to watch Ip Man 3 there were less than 20 people in the theater, but I was rather late. I bet geographic location and culture are important factors here.

Yeah, this is the last Ip Man movie, at least with Donnie Yen from what I heard. I don't understand the point of having Mike Tyson there lol, he's so awkward too.

Haha, yeah. His fighting scene again Donnie was very good though.

I still need to start watching the IP Man movies. Been meaning to for years. So much to watch, so little time.

I haven't heard of it either. 😛 Some movies are bound to be more popular than Star Wars in other countries though.
