The sexiest shit I have ever used (well.. in 2010.) My thoughts were exactly the same as yours, Dasher. Useless and a waste of money. When you actually pick it up, you will be amazed. Compared to other handheld apple products, as bulky as it is, it is fast, has a lot of memory, and looks pretty damn sexy with it's wide screen, sheen look, and bright lights.

It almost gives me as much joy as looking into a microwave on high.

I just don't think that a giant iPod is going to market as well, when you can get a cheaper, smaller one that works the same.

EDIT: According to Theezy's pic you can't multitask, on my $170 phone you can.

I haven't had a chance to play with one personally so I will not comment on how they are overall but have had a good review from a friend.

What a colossal FAIL. The only use I see for this? Long journeys for kids to watch movies on. People complained that there is no phone capability, like you would want to be seen on a train witha brick mobile on the side of your head. It will look like the iPad is using you as a phone!
