IPB free mods

I am pretty sure you can't right now but. . . Can you upload custom mods to ipbfree? It probably has something to do with the root file which I can access but I don't know enough code to get around.

On free hosts like ipbfree you can't install your own mods as all forums run off one set of files so editing one file will edit everyones forum there fore they never give users access to the core forum files.

It's not really as all forums run off 1 set of files to save space as for mods to be installed each forum would have to have their own files. If a host has 1000 forums they would have to have 1000 sets of forum files on their servers aswell as the databases and all the styles. It also means that people will mess up the forums and the support of the host will have to keep fixing people adding mods without knowing what they are doing. It will also cause massive security problems as forum owners could upload dangerous files in order to attack or infect the server. People could also add bad mods to their forum with major security issues which could cause the forum or the server being hacked.

It would also cause the host to add more ads to the service to cover all the extra costs for the massive amounts of extra disk space and servers. It would also cause problems with people removing the forum copyright which the host adds. Also it allows people to see the hosts custom mods they have added already which other hosts could steal. It could also allow admins to edit the files to remove the hosts ads that pay for all the extra costs.

Its definately worth getting payed hosting, you wil have access to everything needed for you to modify anything with no restrictions to your forum.
