How long have they been doing this?

I just noticed it, It really annoyed me, I paid for my IPB license and now my forum looks like forumotion. How did they get version 2.3 for free?

I know its been awhile since theyve been doing it, no idea how they are able to though...I though InvisionFree and IPBFree were using version 1.3? Hopefully theyll get sued >_>

Yes, they are using 2.3 graphics and IPB 2.3 elements like UCP, Profiles, Post views and index.

I want them to get sued.

They probably brought a license that allows them to distribute the software freely amongst users (users being the web) so they probably can't be sued, face it guys the day someone illegally reproduces and releases a protected software such as this would be the day they get sued and/or the web is taken down for legal issues.

IPB doesnt sell that. They would have had to make a deal with IPB, and IPB is earning a certain percent of the money they make from ads. It doesnt make any sense other wise.

Theres copies of both IPB, and vB on The Pirate Bay, all free with keygens and cracks. Theyve yet to be sued, and the web is still up if im correct. Its call "Piracy" and it happens with music everyday. Happens with anything digital everyday.

I tried a pirate vBulletin once, it turned out to be PunBB ~lol~

Why are they called jelsoft?

Well I never said pirating was good, but it does prove my statement. Im guessing ForumMostion is paying IPB.

Vbulletin is a product developed by jelsoft.

Yes, I know.
But why are they called jelsoft?

Ya, I have noticed that they have IPB. But I really do not like it...IMO it does not look like ipb at all.

Yeah, They probably have a deal with the advertising just like Ghost, said.

I asked the IPS Resources team on the IPB forums and they said its made using about 20% of IPB coding and they paid for it.

I dont see how that can only be 20%, but atleast they did indeed pay for it.

I suppose, but I never have liked companies that do stuff like that to IPB and even phpBB. I think if you want to use the software learn to install it yourself.

I agree fully! I think that it's not that hard to even do. However every chokes on the hosting part. Not many know a lot about hosting companies and such...

I suppose. I still think that if every admin was required to install the software themselves there would be alot less n00b admins out there that have no idea what theyre doing. Or atleast we could charge to install it more often -razz-
