IPB or phpBB?

IPB has better features and is more customizable. Then again, it may depend on the genre of the forum.

As for mods, I happen to like playing with the code so installing mods phpbb way is fine by me, it seems the younger generation prefer mybb or ipb, I will make a list of why I think its better later

Younger generation? 5 years ago, I saw a boom in IPB. I'm sure that isn't really considered the "younger generation" now, when the World Wide Web has only been around for 20 or so years, and web based forum software has only been around for about 10-12 years.

Note that IPB is paid and MyBB is free, so I would assume the "younger generation" would choose "free" and more experienced users would choose paid IPB.

IPB is a better software, but costwise I'd just go with PhpBB (Or MyBB) for the fact that it's free...and I've seen good free themes on PhpBB too.
