I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but did IPBFree Close? None of the sites are working and there twitter is gone as well as facebook.

If they deleted their twitter and facebook then that may be a sign they are down and not coming back.
Although its unfortunate, this can happen to anyone on any free host at any time. You take that risk when you cannot backup your forum.

Just done some research, and I think they are closed forever.

Like theezy said, you run the risk of these misadventures, however the blame cannot be placed on anyone but yourself, which is unfortunate in this case if you have a very active forum and didn't have a backup.

Wow, I never thought a big free forum host would close like that.

I didn't think it would happen. My forum was big and active. They closed without warning to.

They could have at least given a little warning so people could at least pull stuff of their boards before they lost them for good. They really screwed over everyone if they are truly gone.

I'd recommend you use http://www.prophpbb.com/ they're the best, zetaboards is crap in my opinion.

I hate phpBB more than zetaboards. I'm just going to use zetaboards for now.

Zetaboards is actually the most progressive of most forum software. After all, they've had threaded (or conversation-styled) PMs before anyone else (IPB 3 was second). But TayneC8 is definitely right, it's best off if you host your own forum software.

I am not sure I have ever been on that site, maybe onces a while ago. I can't remember how it looked, anyway this is an example why not to take on a free host unless you can backup as sitefrost is the free host that allows you cPanel.

hard to believe that IPBfree may be gone forever, good thing I left them when I did.
