So, I'm going to be getting me a bigger iPod, but I am wondering, should I get an iPhone (without service)? Do iPhones and iTouches act the same? Could I get on the internet without getting a plan?

Reason being, I plan to get an iPhone someday and if it operates the same as an iTouch just with the addition of cellular service, I'll just do that to save money in the future.

You need wifi for internet on iPod. For iPhone it will use your allowance you pay your phone company so much a month?

iphone can also use wifi, its basically the same although iphone i believe has a better camera, is a bit thicker/durable, and can be a GPS if it has service.

Yeah, an iPhone will work the same without a SIM card but isn't optimised to be offline like an iPod Touch is. I have both, and my iPod is muccccch faster...

If you have never owned an iPod touch then you probably won't, but if you have then you might notice a difference though you will get used to it.

I say get the phone because it does everything the iPod does. The iPod is a downgraded version of the iPhone.

That was constructive... android is still a bit of a mess with its cluttered interface and a bit of a wild marketplace. iOS will still probably be on top for a few more years.

Get an android, screw apple!
Your post is not needed, nor welcome.

CharlieShene, I probably will end up getting the iPhone even though I won't be getting any service for it. I'm sure the speed difference isn't to bad seeing as how my 8gig is slow, I'm used to slow. xD

I'd hold out for the iPhone 5 in September. It will do everything an iPod will do plus a lot more. You'll also have the best phone on the planet too 😉

I wouldn't be using it as a phone Clover, just as an iPod. Reason I'm uncertain is because if I ever wanted to use it as a phone, I'd have it rather then having to go buy one.

Just a warning to you,my brother had a iphone and found out if you do not pay a certain few you cannot use apps.

With the itouch you do not need to pay anything extra and can download and use as many apps you want.

The app store is the same for the ipod as it is for the iphone. You still have to pay for most good apps.

I am not talking about apps themselves,he was told he had to pay a monthly few inorder to use apps on his iphone. No joke.. that is what they told him.

With itouch I know for a fact you do not have to pay anything in order to use apps unless the app itself is a paid for app.

Even if that's the case all you to have to do is unlock your iphone, no reason not to and its a big F you to those capitalistic pigs.

Thanks for the warning NBK.

So, I'm still debating about whether I should get an iPhone or iTouch. If I get the iPhone, I will probably end up getting service added to it, but am not sure how that works. I know I'd have to sign a contract, but my mom is worried that there is a bunch of between the lines crap that could screw me over, is this the case?

An iPhone is just like any other phone contract wise. You just need to make sure to get a contract that includes unlimited internet usage and the apps wont end up costing you anything extra.
