At Gorepit my webalizer stats say that there's been over 1.8 million hits. Now I know hits are reachings to anything on the server such as images from google images etc... Is 1.8 million a relatively high number for this or low? 🙂

I think you are trying to show off..

Your stats must be off. Webalizer also counts people who return. So it could be you clicking it 1.8 million times 😉 Adsense is a great powerfull tool who has fixed that bug.

^^ Exactly.

Hits also account for spambots, cralwers, and such, too. It's not all real users.

Thank you Kirisute for answering my question.

I am not at all. I am only asking. For a start, the hits are really like and the visits are not, so I don't have anything to show off about, i'm just confused as to how it all works really.

I don't think gorepit is showing off at all, Webalizer can be very hard to understand, especially for someone who hasen't used it before.

Id suggest changing to Awstats if you have it, it's much more easier to work around and ive written a guide which will help you understand what everything means it's located on PS, you can view it at Awstats explained :great:

I have got AwStats 🙂 I just went on it and wow it's an improvement! It has details for literally everything!

The only thing is, my hits and visits are lowers on AwStats that on Webalizer?

I'll definatley check that guide out too, thanks Nathan!

And no, if I was to be showing off I would post it in the What's going on board... But i'm not, i'm just trying to find out information on hits.

Im not sure if webalizer instantly updates or not, awstats however doesn't and it usually takes a day after to update and that may be the reason of the difference in stats, id check for you but im currently on my psp therefore it's a pain to access my cpanel. However with that said you won't really ever get an 100% clear log statistics. No problem about the guide it's there for everyone just enjoy the read 😉

Webalizer is at about 43,000+ visits and AwStats is at 33,000 visits. I don't get 10,000 visits at day 😛 more like every 2 months lol 😛

Hmm, i'll keep checking it 🙂

You can get an update now button appear in AWstats so you can update them when you want.

Go to home/username/tmp/awstats and you will see a file with the extension .conf. Edit that file and search for the following
Code:
AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=0
And replace with
Code:
AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=1

Then go to AWstats again and near the top an "Update Now" button appears.

I knew you could get the "Update Now" button but I didn't know how to add it, thanks alot for this Fowler.

No problem... Just something i have learnt overtime that finally i can put to use 😀

My host uses awstats, but in all honesty I prefer statcounter. It's a much clearer layout and you can customize the graph options much easier.

(BTW, 1.8m hits, over how long of a period was that measuring?)

It usually measures in a day but i dont think that thats the one that your reading 🙂
