Is 10 Years To Late To Start Monetizing?

It's probably actually a great time since you have a site that has been running a long time. It shows you didn't give up on your vision.

It's never to late to start, in fact, you would have so much content going back 10 years ago.

It is actually much better to let a site mature before trying to monetize it. So you should be fine! Just don't go overkill and drive your faithful users away.

I'd only allow for maybe 2 ads on the right side of my site.
That's a good number of ads to display. The aim is to not be overly obtrusive, but have enough to make a decent amount of revenue/impressions. Sidebars are a great place, as is just above/below the fold of the page. I typically stay away from in-content ads, pop-ups or footer sticky ads.

And as other's have said, it's never too late to start monetising! Having decent web traffic and regular content is actually much better than trying to monetise a new site with no users or content

Yeah, ads shouldn't be IN the content, that's just distracting from the content you're supposed to be checking out. I finally applied last night so now I'm waiting to see if I get approved.

Let us know how you get on, but I'm sure you'll be approved with a backlog of high quality content behind you! 🙂

Update: Looks like I got approved but its saying something about ad.txt and I think I fixed that but I'm gonna have to wait a day or two or something to see if it did. I had to install some headers/footers plug in so I could add it.
Congratulations - though I had no doubt!

Have you tried viewing your Ads.txt file via URL? This is on the Google knowdgebase:

To verify that you published your file correctly, check that you successfully see your file's content when you access the ads. txt URL ( ) in your web browser. If you can see the file in your web browser, it's likely that AdSense will successfully find it.

Thank you! But uhh... My brain kinda shuts down as that kinda goes over my head some.
Your ads.txt file can be found at: https://indiecomix.net/ads.txt

And from the looks of it you've added your Google Adsense code in there so should all be good 🙂 Just need to wait for Google to crawl the file and confirm.

If you want to speed this up you can go to Webmaster Console and submit that above URL to be priority indexed. If not, it'll do it automatically in 24-48hrs 😉

If you plan to monetize your site, there is no such thing as being too late. You can monetize at any time and make money as long as you have traffic.

For a site that has been running for 10 years, I think you stand a better chance to succeed with monetization. The site has built a huge reputation I guess and has enough value to offer.
