9 times out of 10 most game boards are rarely used and it just seems like the normal for most forums, no matter what kind of niche, but I mean really, is a game board needed on forums? Do you actually use it, or do your members actually play the posting games in the game board?
I think it's nice to have a place to let your screws fall off and just laugh around with other members once a while. When people say they spam and act childish elsewhere because they want to have a bit of fun you can always lock them in the game room. Or so I think. In the end I'd say it largely depends on how big the member base is and their interest in having one. It might keep clutter away from the occasional bored member gone loose in the 'serious' subforums.
Is it necessary? No. ...but it's fun! People sometimes forget to have fun when they are on forums so they end up getting bored and they end up leaving. I think having a game board helps keep the mood light and it's a nice distraction sometimes.
It's just a nice place to just chill and give your members a chance to just mess around and have a bit of fun. And I guess it also helps with your forum activity and statistics a bit too
I think it also prevents people from getting too spammy in the general forum areas. 😛 Give them a place where their post count doesn't increase and they can spam as long as it is not against the rules, and they'll generally be happier. 😛
I do believe it truly is nice undertake a destination to make it possible for your current screws tumble down and chuckle around along with other associates after a while. When individuals claim they will unsolicited mail along with act childish elsewhere since they wish to have a little fun you possibly can always fasten these individuals from the online game bedroom. Roughly I do believe. In the long run I might claim the item typically will depend on the size of the member basic is usually along with their own desire for obtaining a single. It would retain clutter faraway from the sporadic bored member long gone unfastened from the 'serious' subforums.
I'm not a big fan of game boards. I find them to be rather spammy. I rarely see any quality discussions take place in them. They really just boost stats.
I don't partake in forum games that much but they're always there for me when I don't feel like thinking too much but I am in the mood to make some posts. 😛
My forum didn't start with a forum games area, but one was eventually added because members wanted it. They post and enjoy them, so why not? We do have some rules against some, like any kind of counting game variation, CTRL+V, etc.
I absolutely hate game boards and won't be having one on any forum I make any time soon. Don't participate in them either. Seems like boredom and the need for validation (based on post count) epitomized.
It's useless in my eyes, yet it boost posts sometimes and activity so it has some purpose, but you know it's just like not really helpful.
Fun, it might be fun sometimes but it gets boring fast.
They used to be awesome and the hip thing to have on your forum simply for the post count incrementation. These days, I like to believe quality content is viewed as more of an importance over quantity. I tend to steer clear of said forums and never set-up "spam boards" on any bulletin board I manage.
