Is the software Gimp good?

I want to try it out but I want to know if its good or not and what's the difference between it and photoshop.

I have used it, and it's so much easier to get used to the tools, compared to PS. If you have a hard time getting to grips with PS, then I suggest you give GIMP a go. You can still produce decent pieces of GFX work with it.

Try some tutorials online to start things off.

It is, but it definitely has a learning curve (even if it is easier than Photoshop).

But hey, I suck at image editing in general.

I dont know why I always found photoshop much easier than any other photo editing tools. But its depend upon you with which one you feel comfortable.

Both are photo editing softwares and are good but GIMP is free to use and photoshop costs you a lot of money i.e $100 or more.Secondly you can work as a volunteer in a GIMP.You write codes and it makes a program for you but in photoshop you have to apply for writing and editing as a developer and have to convince the adobe to hire you.I will prefer you the GIMP over photoshop. But photoshop is more professional.

I use it from time to time. I am not super advanced when it comes to image editing but it lets me do what I need to do. I'm sure it can do a whole bunch of stuff that I haven't learned yet. 😛

It's a matter of the person and what they do with it really, but I think it's a very good software. I have used it off and on for years after switching from PhotoShop.

GIMP is an excellent alternative to PS. I've used both for a long while (Since 2005) and have seen both of there respective Ups and Downs. GIMP is great for those on a budget and I'd almost recommend it now that Adobe is selling out and only offering Subscriptions for the Latest Photoshop Version. If you can get a hold of PS6 and it's in your budget go for it. If not GIMP is Excellent. The learning curve is slightly different as things are in different places on both; However Tutorials are there and once you get the hang of it things can be seamless.

I've tried it. Not bad for a free program. I know some pros who use gimp better than some photoshop better. It's all about user prefrences.

that said. I prefer photoshop.

Some people find it easy to work with Gimp but for me potoshop is more user friendly and I am comfortable to do all kinds of photo editing works using photoshop.

yes its good, but the best is photoshop....
You can find NOT the latest version, in very good prices....

If you are a basic photo editor then Gimp is excellent. But if you are looking for something that is very professional and will provide you with super excellent results then you should go for Photoshop. However, Gimp is free while Photoshop is not.

GIMP has always been my go to program, only cause when I was in college Photoshop was so expensive. They keep the program updated and have tons of tutorials and support. If you are thinking about using it I would suggest you do.

When I ran a PC, I had Photoshop and, while I wouldn't say that I was proficient with it, I could do the things that I generally needed to do. Since switching to a Mac, I have tried Gimp but, although I believe it does all the same things as Photoshop, I have never learned to use it satisfactorily. My wife didn't have any trouble with it, though.

For 98% of users, Gimp will get their work done like Photoshop, but PS is overall (obviously) a bit better, though the hefty pricetag makes it impractical to get for most people.
