I don't really like sites with a lot of ads on the first post or header especially those giant square ads and in-text all ads over a post on forums.

I rather have forum staff post a bunch of posts full of affiliate links to "tell" people to buy their affiliate products related to the forums category/niche like iPods, Software, or web hosting where they get a 4-30% commission for each sale generated from links on a post.

I also like the idea of Paid/Sponsored posts which advertising company paid the forum something like 100 dollars to publish a post to promote a product like a "Premium WordPress Theme, and how great it is compared to other themes which are free and paid."

If the forum owner posts a lot about VIP membership, products he sell on the forum like T-shirts, forum themes, and scripts, it would be better then having too many ads.

I also kind of feel affiliate links can earn more money then Ads on a low to medium traffic website if you pick the right products sold at the right price which visitors and members on your site would consider buying or could only buy online like eBooks, downloadable content, WordPress Themes, and Scripts since you can earn 30% commission on each sale from your affiliate links or 100% if you sell your own digital products or memberships vs only a few cents to a dollar or less from one click on an ad.
