Yes, I think it can be very difficult to get a Tweet, #Hashtag, and even a topic trending/popular on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, etc unless it involes an Natural Disaster, big news or celebrity news like Justin Bieber is male artist of the century according to MTV.

I'm not sure if most people want to retweet a link to a owner's forum, or website except for a few dedicated followers.

Maybe not...

The best thing to do in that aspect is to round up a group of friends to constantly link it with good quality content and help get it started. If someone sees someone else doing some cool, then tend to follow 🙂 The challenge is posting links to something cool and that goes back to square one, CONTENT!

It might be also hard getting friends if you have no friends or very few friends on social networks, and you are too shy to make new friends with strangers from online or offline to help promote your cool content.

Then that kind of defeats the purpose of running a forum/website doesn't it?

Good point, it does defeat the purpose of running a site unless the person want to learn to be social online or in his real life, and share more about what he is interested in with others. I know some people use the internet to try to have a more out going personality and confidence.

Some social networks and websites like online dating sites, Yearbook sites, and school alumni sites which require you to use your real name and picture might be kind of intimidating for shy people, so probably starting out on social networks which let you use usernames/nick names and cartoon avatars might be a better choice for people who are not really open.

twitter it is quite hard. It was hard for me. But in facebook if the topic is interesting you will get likes for that page. Again i have tried it and I am an owner of 2 successful pages! one with 87k+ and other with 7700+ likes

I agree Twitter is quite hard since people follow so many people compared to liking Facebook pages, Facebook seems to get me more traffic especially when I post topics about Facebook, social media, or interesting posts to Facebook.

That's a fantastically big number of likes. How about giving the link to your pages so that we can go and have a look to learn something from it?
