I have started a few forums that didn't take off in the past and after laying off for a while, I decided what the heck, I'm not quitting until I succeed. Here is my new forum: http://www.youngventurers.com
The idea basically to have a community for the young people who have websites, forums, blogs, web design companies and all that stuff to join up and share the experiences of running such with others.
Is't good or bad? Can you add anything or suggest anyway I might improve it?
Is the homepage necessary in your opinion? Does it have content which users must see? If not, remove it as it may be a thing which visitors are turned off by.
Sometimes the skin itself turns people away, though I think your skin is quite nice. Sometimes software may be a contributing issue. Many are used to a set software, and so they are not willing to make a change.
I strongly believe you are targeting the wrong group though. Take some time to think about your target audience. The majority of people at FP are on "this" age group, whereas another forum, they will have "that" age group.
Is this the only forum you are promoting on? If so, you are really not looking into the wider world. There are heaps more forums out there where you can stick your link in your profile and signature, which will help, and will definitely help if you find the right age group.
I'm not really here at FP to advertise much but to help launch it, get feedback from other webmasters and make it perfect.
As for the homepage, I really think i should keep it as it will keep users updated on the most recent activity. I feel all the sections are helping "pull" some important info from various forums and presenting proof of helpful content to the visitor...Am i wrong?
I am working on advertising but I'm a bit clueless at the moment, to be honest. Any suggestions?
