I think it is - unless you're marketing toward a specific political or religious market, in many cases.

It can be if people aren't on the same page

I dont realy understand how it will be bad? Even if so, would it act as a deterent for people not to adopt a religion or have political outlooks.

If you mean an ordinary business like a retail store or a restaurant, I'd say it should be purely business and religion should be out of it. With partisan politics, customers with inclination on the other party will be turned off for sure. My uncle in the US is engrossed with politics. He created 2 Facebook accounts. One for personal which is his link to us relatives. Another is the account he uses for posting political comments. With business, politics will just deter the growth so to be safe, just exclude any political or religious color in your business.

I think it's generally a bad idea to adopt a political or religious view if it isn't related to the business. It can potentially rule out a lot of potential revenue and customers. It can work sometimes though. For example there's a fast food taco-chain in Norway that uses hatred for Trump as a selling point in their ads and campaigns, and it really works.

Well it can benefit your business, if it's done right. Choose a side on a very controversial topic and your post/tweet could go viral, therefore promoting your business. But be aware. You could also get a sh*tstorm, lose customers and even your whole business.
