Is Santa way too fat? Is it ok for him to be fat, provided the image he provides doesn't lend people to think it is ok to be eating junk? And if it is OK for him to be fat, would his fat be more of a healthy fat?

I know, serious topic, for a serious holiday!

I think Santa is doing better and is healthier these days because he has given up the pipe, and they don't show him smoking his pipe in illustrations these days as much. The late night snacks that Santa eats could be cut down on, but the milk Santa drinks with his cookies is very good for bone building, with the vitamin D and calcium it provides. Santa probably sticks to a good exercise program throughout the year as well, otherwise he wound not be able to carry a sack full of toys down the chimney.

I don't know who invented the character of Santa. Maybe he chose between a fat old man and a thin old man. Of course, the fat looks is a symbol of abundance while the thin is a symbol of famine (or famished maybe). Take note that junk food was coined in this century only and in the olden times there was no organic food and people are not much concerned with health.

Now this is my question. If you will be the one to design a Santa, what kind would you prefer? A muscled Santa who eats oats only in the morning and vegetables for lunch and fruit juice for dinner? Come on, let's be "unrealistic" with fictional characters.

We always known him to be fat, it wouldn't be Santa otherwise. That fat can keep him warm at times.. Maybe 😛

Santa Claus wasn't always fat; America made him that way. He can yet have a long, healthy life with a few tweaks to his diet. “Surely Santa has gotten fat from eating so many cookies"
