Well obviously. You can succeed in SEO without paying for it, just like I have quite a few times in the past.
So for someone like myself, it's definitely cheaper. Costs less to write my own content and promote it than pay Google for ads.

Definitely, SEO is cheaper than Adwords but its time consuming.
I spent money on Adwords twice. Both times, GOOGLE offered me those $75 vouchers. Saw a lot of traffic. But nothing worth continuing to spend money on Adwords as a major cog or block in our overall Advertising strategy. Mostly clicks with very little conversions. The visitors didn't click many of our adsense ads, or purchase any products from us.

SEO and adwords, both are having their own advantages. Talk about Google Adwords, then I would say that it's good if you want immediate results and promote your newly developed website. But it's not necessary that it will give you conversions. It will give your website more clicks but that doesn't mean it will lead to conversions because users will go with your services or products only when they like it.

Yes it is cheaper than adwords if and only if you do optimize website via SEO yourself, otherwise it also can also cost you heavily if you hire someone else to do so because nowadays it takes more time than adwords.
