Is the constant use of exchanges cheating?

Doctors will always stress not to lie to a child. Rather, you should inform them in a slow and calm process. I've repeatedly heard, that you shouldn't lie to a child since it only creates confusion. And in the case of cancer there are medical as well as physical reasons to have the child become hopeful.

Now, I thought we were talking about forums? πŸ˜› Someone wrote a poem about forums in 200AD. 😱 ...Talking about advanced for his time. πŸ˜›

I think we went off tangent.

In fact, I don't believe doing an exchange is cheating anyways. πŸ˜›

Well, both my sister and brother-in-law are doctors, and i don't think they would ask parents to tell their child that he is going to die. πŸ˜›

Though he wrote it in 200 AD (and its not just 1 but 1330 such), it still applies today. As i said, if you don't want to accept it, then no matter how hard i try, you are not going to accept it. πŸ˜›

I can understand that members don't want to post in an empty forum. However, that doesn't mean you would have to cheat your way into it.

Now that's called contradiction. πŸ˜›

Not at all. πŸ™‚

The first quote talks about cheating. It basically says an empty forum doesn't give you the right to cheat. However, exchange imho is not cheating.

And I would accept it, if I understood the point. πŸ˜› Where exactly was this quote given? At a college speech or something? I'd need to context. πŸ˜›

Personally I was never for it. I don't exactly have a problem with it but let's be honest here and face the fact the people doing exchanges don't care about the forums they are posting on. If they cared then they would be posting on those forums without the need for an exchange to take place. I also like the fact that no matter how active or inactive my forum is, I can proudly say that everything posted on there came from people who wanted to be there and not because they got bribed with a post exchange. Anyone can make a forum active with post exchanges. It takes skill to do it without any of that going on.

So if 2+ forums were in some sort of planned out competition for a prize, then it will be cheating.. obviously... Besides that, who really cares? Maybe someone that might be jealous of another forum that's growing larger than theirs, due to post exchanges and/or database merging.

Well, i said, "If you consider it cheating" in my first post in this topic. That clearly says i don't consider exchange as cheating either. πŸ˜›
All i said was, if they consider it cheating and wonder whether its good or bad, according to my quote, it would be good.

And I would accept it, if I understood the point. πŸ˜› Where exactly was this quote given? At a college speech or something? I'd need to context. πŸ˜›

You should have seen my reply to "etc" where i gave a link to him. Perhaps you can read about the wikipedia article about it.

Fine. You win. :great:

I should have mentioned my stance on the topic before I started arguing with your quote. πŸ˜› I still strongly oppose lies in any forum.

Cheating is a strong word to use.I have never did an exchange but maybe some hope that the member stays on posts more.
