Well, I don't think it should be illegal. Obviously, fighting it is a waste of cash better used on other things. Nonetheless, do you feel an agenda is being pushed people?

I don't see it being pushed but I do see attitudes being relaxed concerning it. Think about it though, the 60's hippies are now senior citizens and they're the ones in charge of making the rules in our governments. A lot of them did pot back then and saw it as no big deal, so now the attitude across the board seems to be that it's no big deal.

I would still love to see more studies on reflexes when driving and operating other big motor vehicles as well as damage to the lungs. What I see are a lot false information memes on Facebook that pot cures cancer which is absolutely false. I have a friend who has been a pot smoker since she was in her teens and she got cancer so obviously that didn't work.

I strongly believe that Marijuana should stay illegal. I've seen how people behave when they're off of it after a few hours and are wanting to light up again. It inhibits your brain. It causes mental instability. It makes "some" people more aggressive and volatile when they haven't smoked it in a few hours and it leads to them causing problems. I think people are better off without it.

When individuals suffering from pre-existing medical conditions use marijuana in an attempt to alleviate their symptoms, ultimately this worsens their conditions over time. Although marijuana effects depend on the individual’s endocannabinoid receptors (which control behavioral functions, like aggression) and the potency level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in the drug, scientifically documented links between certain marijuana users and violence do exist. Wider public awareness of the risks and side effects of marijuana, as well as a more prudent health policy, and government agency monitoring of the drug’s composition, creation, and distribution, are needed and recommended.
Marijuana withdrawal has also been a topic of controversy. Research, however, has indicated that marijuana withdrawal symptoms do occur. Symptoms of withdrawal include:

  • Irritability, anger or aggression.
  • Nervousness or anxiety.
  • Insomnia.
  • Disturbing dreams.
  • Decreased appetite or weight loss.
  • Restlessness.
  • Depressed mood.

There were 8,974 deaths related to alcohol-specific causes registered in the UK in 2020. During the same period there were 36 drug-related deaths due to cannabis use. I rest my case :cigar:

I've known quite a number of people who drink to excess (now mostly dead) and a fair few who in my view smoke far too much weed but I've yet to know anyone I'd say has been damaged through smoking weed.

Personally I think the time and money spent on policing weed would be better spent elsewhere e.g. tackling alcoholism.

Pot culture is pushed because it makes money. Nonetheless, tobacco makes money also, however it's shunned by nearly everyone.

I think there was no need for this and it all has to do with politics before me that were not of my generation's control. There are fewer working people, plenty of unruly citizens, and a load of tax dollars going towards overspending that is already mismanaged. It can allow you to make a living, but there are so many avenues after Covid and the internet looking to have people work from home instead of this growing business. Yeah, there are contributing members of society because of this, but we need things like border control, and independent, renewable fuel production, enough energy and infrastructure to power electric cars for everyone, troops to prevent the war overseas from getting out of hand. But instead, users are spending their money as dependents to weed. And yeah it leaves people with a lot of issues, or no issues but dirt broke.

This is funny but it's not funny.

You reminded me of a story of some guys I knew who had this old guy as a teacher.

He'd always have one of them take his coffee mug to the lounge and fill it. One of the guys said that they started putting roofaline in it.

The old man would be going over his lesson and would trail off and fall asleep at his desk or sit down sprawled out in his chair. They got a kick out of it. The old man caught on after it happened 2 more times. He started getting his own coffee.

Like you said, funny but not funny.

Claiming that there is an agenda or a group of people or a cultural wave pushing pot to society seems strange, it confuses the order in which different events have occurred. Pot is already a part of our society, and has been for a long time. Pot is highly attainable pretty much everywhere, and is a part of a lot of people's life.

The debate now is how to deal with that, after decades of political attempts that really hasn't sorted anything out.
