Is there anything wrong with a .org site?

If you do go with the .org domain I'd suggest that the logo you design for the site, should really emphasise the .org part of the site name. If people visit your site once, you want them to remember that it's a .org, otherwise they may type in .com next time they decide to visit you.

That is a very good point Fergal. I have no problems with using .org domains. When I register a .com and whatnot, I make sure I grab .org, .net and .co.uk most of the time if available or if I think they might have some worth to me later on. Never have used one on a forum, if I did I would make sure I wouldn't have any adverts etc. or any clear signs of revenue generation, since as already mentioned, .org sites are normally seen as non-profit organizations.

I would, however, have subscriptions on the forum if available to do so, since subscriptions help the running of the forum, are hidden from public viewing and can bring members benefits.
