He was born in Mexico and came to California when he was a baby (2 years old). He graduated from high school and lived his whole life here. His parents have 2 kids that are born in the U.S. so they cannot get deported. My boyfriend was filing for a work permit and cannot provide any proof he lived here since the end of high school (2014 - 2016). He is 22 now. How can you not work or cannot be allowed to work legally and have anything to your name? He has to show proof and if he doesn't in January he will be the only one deported from his family. It's not even his fault nor did he came illegally. He lived in u.s. for more than 18 years.

I would love any advice or comments from others. We have been dating for 4 months and if he gets deported we would be together for 7 months. He did send his high school transcripts but clearly wasn't enough and only shows proof prior to 2014. This is taking our relationship to depression on being helpless. I can empathize how hard it is having a family moved illegally and living somewhere most of your whole life and might be forced to live somewhere you never been to.

America isn't easy unfortunately with there redickaless rules. So he's born in Mexico and moved to America when he was just a baby.

So he should have a birth certificate and a passport, not just a Mexican Passport but American password. Then prove about the property that he is living. Immigrating permanently to the United States of America can be a very challenging process.

So here is the actions to look at and also keep this in mind that:
Applying For Permanent Resident
1. Submit a petition for a permanent visa
2. Review your application and supporting documents with a lawyer 3.once your petition has been approved
Submit your fees, application, supporting materials, and wait for a response, which you need to research
4. Have a medical examination before the date of your interview

Applying For US Citizenship
1. Reside in the US with a valid green card for more than 5 years. Unfortunately that's out 🙁
2. Apply for naturalization
3. Go to a citizenship interview
4. Pass the US citizenship test
5. Take an oath to the United States.

Go through the information and make phone calls to people

I wholeheartedly support you for not only dating a guy but being open and honest about this. It shows great strength.

*hugs*

^ Literally this. He needs to apply for citizenship. Generally, his parents would have done it for him when he was smaller. However, this doesn't seem to be the case, and generally you can't get a permanent residence in 4 months due to how bad our government has made the citizenship process. The Green Card is probably his best bet right now. You can find more information about that here (he'll have to have a job, though): https://www.uscis.gov/greencard

I'm sorry to hear about how it is with your relationship. 🙁 I'm no lawyer, but that's what I do know about the US citizenship process. Now onto my opinion on this rather tricky situation:

On the subject of "is this right" - I personally don't have an issue with it. When you live in the US (or most any country), you're supposed to have citizenship/a work VISA/Green Card, and if you don't, you run the risk of being deported. That's how it works in most first-world countries. The US is actually a fairly immigrant friendly country. Here is a pretty interesting article that I read on Forbes yesterday about this issue that had some interesting numbers: http://www.forbes.com/sites/modeled...nt-friendly-country-in-the-world/#42a4b55b1ba - There are some 12 million undocumented immigrants in the US, so if you live in certain areas (LA/DC), he probably won't be deported. So long as he stays under the radar, he probably won't be deported, anyway. The US legal system isn't very good at actually deporting people.

Best of luck to your boyfriend in his hope to become a legalized citizen. While I'm no lawyer, I'll try to find some reading if you have any questions. I'd recommend that he find an actual lawyer, as well.

Each country is different but it's all the same when it comes down to people coming into the country. United Kingdom requires some source of information paperwork and insurance number to able to work in the country and so insurance number is needed. But not easy getting a insurance number without a UK home address, passport and other information saying you are in the country for good and yeah UK passport I'm talking about. Getting a UK passport is another different matter again.

You will experience a complete cycle system, yeah!! I damn experienced it. What I mean by that is you need to get a bank account but can't without a proof of your home address and so you probably have to get signed up with doctors to get a letter but then you stuck again because the joining requirements. So you going around a big damn cycle with a firewall blocking you.

Had that problem with a car license with family member, trying to renew a 30 year old UK license that messed up from won't approval of open a bank account and home address details and damnnnnnnnnnnn balllllssss goes on

What your boyfriend is experience is a cycle of problems and have to go around and around till a open gap. However you probably have allot of more problems since there isn't enough proof.

He been working years on getting a work permit legally but gets a short notice of deportation in a few months is kinda messed up. He has never committed a crime, finished high school, etc. It's not right that a baby that have no frame of mind going into a country illegally and being protected with a daughter under 10 and a son that is 19 being u.s. citizens. I am just scared that he will be the only one from his family getting deported and where will he live? He is just a victim that should of been a natural u.s. citizen. The nightmare makes it worse if Trump gets elected will make the situation worse. I see him as American as I am. He always feels limited and have no rights.

Keep on at it, get is family to also to work with him. He needs to apply for citizenship.

Go and get what is needed and get a Green Card. don't and try to put yourselves down and put your mind in gear.

@Robbie626 will you move to Mexico if he gets sent there?
Or is this relationship only valid if he lives in your immediate area?
