Could the film Titanic, which is 5 hours long, have been shortened and still told a great story?
I love Titanic but my gf refuses to watches it because she thinks it's boring and too sappy. Then she told me it's too long to even attempt to watch again. But I never feel like I'm watching a 5 hour film. So I thought I'd ask you guys. 😀
We're both female so that doesn't apply for us.Could the film Titanic, which is 5 hours long, have been shortened and still told a great story?

Wouldn't it normally be the guy who thinks it's sappy?![]()
God, no. A movie like that wouldn't have been successful. Breaking up the VHS and DVD release was more than enough.Given the detailed character building and since this was based on a true story, I would say no it isn't too long. For today's standards, maybe? It might help to break up the movie into 3 parts. They could have done this originally but I don't think it would have been as impactful.
