Is yawning contagious?

Does seeing someone make you want to yawn?

My daughter did a science experiment in grade school on this and came to the conclusion that No, it isn't. And yet, I want to yawn when I see someone else yawn, even on tv!

I always hear the saying "Stop yawning because you are making me yawn" and I will admit every time either I yawn or someone else yawns and I see them yawning, I do tend to yawn myself or they tend to yawn.

It's a weird one as I do not feel it happens to everyone so maybe it's that yawning is contagious for some.
