Isn't it amazing how stylish PhpBB can be? I mean... you have Prosilver and then... this. :great: If you were to style a PhpBB theme how would you do it? What features and whatnot would you have?

I would have expandable categories for sure, maybe tabs. I began styling my own style but then the host deleted me.

I personally would make it fluid, with a lot of nice glossy effects, lots of perfect shading and try to remove the boxiness of the forums.

I would also use jquery for a lot of things or ajax, for things like quick reply,login,registration,ect.

I would really make it look awesome, with light colors, with some blue, silver, etc. I would also add drop down categories, a feature that lets you reorder the categories. Also, some other great PHPBB themes you can see: http://www.psnf.net/ and http://www.thediscussion.info/ . Both of them are custom themes, they look amazing. 🙂

Well, you can see on our forum how we sort of modified our current theme: Chatting Time however, if I could, and if my co-administrator and I both had enough time (neither one of us don't at the moment) I would like for one of us to learn how to totally customize the style. Not just simply changing the imagesets, logo, favicon, but doing a totally customized style. Kind of take what we have, play around with it a bit (maybe on a test board?) and seeing what we can come up with.

I love the color red. I had fun incorporating in my forum without it overpowering my users. Anyway, I took a pre-made style and changed it to make it my own. I don't believe that people looking at the original can tell that's where my forum style evolved from, :lol:

Anyway, I love phpBB and had some moments of 2nd thoughts that I picked the wrong software (I also had a choice of SMF when I was moving my board a little over 2 months ago) but I'm glad I stuck to it and can't really see myself moving anytime soon.

I know I meant without me stating so. I want to give Steve credit since I am using his style and deliberately left his link on the bottom of my forum. 😉

Also I love Christian Supernova style with jQuery. The fact that the user can decide on 3 different colors without code change. Also I'm a member of a forum that uses that style, even though the default is blue, I've set mine to red. Also you are able to arrange the categories to suit you so the category I visit the most is 1st. All you do is pick it up and drop it were you want.

I would never use it because it's becoming one of the most popular styles for phpBB forums and I don't want my forum to look the same as thousands of others. Here's the link:

I look at who builds the style before I even think about joining. 🙂 If it's custom made then I'm most likely to join than a normal theme.

Yes, Silent did create the design, it wasn't just making a few edits. It took him around two months to complete the design as well. He put a lot of work into it. 😉
