Name of Site: It's All About Music Radio
Site URL: http://itsallaboutmusic.net
Site Type (Forum, Blog, Website, or Affiliate): Website
Category: Entertainment/Media
Description: Johnathan: Founder of It’s All About Music (IAAM Radio) loves music, plays guitar and drums for fun and is also known on IAAM as DJ Taz. Live off and on during the month with his show called, “The Blender, Cool Breeze and Metal Mayhem”.

How to get airplay:

It’s All About Music is dedicated to the discussion and sharing of artists, bands, and more We are open to any and every kind of music genre. The Radio Station plays it all, Auto, Live and Pre-Recorded shows across all Genres. Studio 1 – The Blender

When we are live we do air the bands that send us tracks, it helps if the bands provide a voice over for the station. Example: This is…. of …… where we keep it real with IAAM Radio… Something like this, idea is to have fun with it. We suggest you take time and do a good VO over your own music. Make it fun, exciting, sexy etc. After all the VO is a representation of your work and could be the first impression.

We also build a page for free for the bands we air, we keep members updated at: http://www.itsallaboutmusic.net/category/bands/ We ask that the bands/artists join the station page under the band’s/artist’s name, they are not expected to post or visit, we know they are busy. What we do, is share updates on their section and then blast it on FB and Twitter. We also will follow, like and tweet the band/artist official page. We ask that the band also like our FB page in return, this way they can see that we do plug them but remember, we can only plug what is new so if their page is outdated then it will be hard for us to offer new news…

It’s not much to ask being we do this all for free, we only have a listener base of about 40,000/month so as a hobby station we do pretty well but we are not like the big dogs out there. This said, we have fun and do have a following and we look forward to airing the band’s/artist’s tracks.

Note: We never ever give the tracks to listeners, we route them to your site to buy or download. If you offer a free download then we provide the link back to you. Bands/Artists have sent us posters, t-shirts, CDs etc to give away on the station. We have shipped items to Norway at our cost to a winner of a $10 CD so when we say free we mean free.

Bands/Artist have also provided signed posters for the station and we love those too. We frame and hang them, then show them off on FB and Twitter.

Note: During live shows, the chat is used to make requests. However, feel free to drop a shout should you visit.

An interesting choice but very understandable, a forum isn't suited to all types of sites. Coding everything in HTML as you say you have could get really confusing and irritating so I would suggest you using PHP to make things easier, anyway good choice but I would suggest trying not to rely on social networks too much.

Thanks for the reply, for us social media has been awesome and most internet stations use it with great success, a forum is simply not right for us. For me, I find HTML much easier to use. We simply have no need for a phpBB coded portal. We have no posting on the portal either, we do have a chat which is used during live shows, several stop by just to say hello but most of our interaction is on the social networks.

Good comments overall and appreciated.

I'll be live today 16 June 2-5pm EST USA playing a mix of Rock, Alternative, Jazz and more. Feel free to stop by the site and make a request in the chat.

Have a great weekend.

Had a great show, with listeners from 10 different countries and we are growing. I'll be off the air next weekend and perhaps the next for vacation.

The AutoDJ or one of our live DJs will hold the station down.

We welcome "Klaymore" our 25th IAAM Radio Featured Band. The Featured Band Segment is every Friday 3-6pm EST USA. These are bands that have provided Voice Overs, Tracks, Posters, CDs and more for the station and its listener base.

Please swing on by our Portal page, take a look around and follow us on G+, Twitter and FB.

Have a great upcoming week, will stop by again later.

First, a little fun:

Yeah PHP is better! Can I ask, why is not good to rely on social networks? Just curious about it. Thanks in advance!

I do not agree on the social network comment in total. I think it really depends on what your forum is about. We are a radio station not a forum and social networks are doing very well for us with a monthly reach of nearly 35,000 and it makes no difference if one likes, follows or tweets us.

For a forum phpBB may be the way to go but I find VB far superior. We are not a forum so we have no need for anything phpBB for us.

I respect Tindris' perspective, I do not think he was making a blanket comment, but wanted to ensure readers understand that social dependency requires a detailed review before anyone makes the decision to use it.

For IAAM Radio Facebook, G+ and Twitter have been great. We simply have no requirement of a forum. Our portal leads listeners right to the station and our advertisers and partners have fared far better since we dumped the forum a few months back.

Great comments and questions and perhaps the social network discussion should take place in another area vice here here unless people are wanting to know specifics about it as it relates to station.

We will do a special Metal show on 14 July 3-5pm EST called Metal Mayhem, featuring 25 bands that support IAAM Radio.

A few of the bands are non metal but we will explain those tracks as we get into the show. We thank the bands for providing tracks, voice overs and merchandise to the station for contests and more.

Please feel free to check them out here:

The show was awesome, now I can't wait to air a few of the new tracks from Contra's new CD.

Thanks for those who tuned in. Not sure we get any listeners from FP but it never hurts to keep you all updated.

Next big show is 14 July 2-5pm EST USA, where we feature 25 bands that support IAAM Radio.

IAAM Radio is proud to announce its 26th featured band: Children of the Serpent. All Featured bands are aired every Friday from 3-6pm EST USA.

Featured Bands provide tracks, CDs, Posters, T-Shirts, Voice Overs and more, all of which we give away to our listeners. We enjoy featuring new bands across the genre spectrum and we even have a few big name bands who simply enjoy supporting IAAM Radio and we thank them for not forgetting the little stations.

We continue to grow and have fun. Tune in when you get a chance, or stop by our portal page to see what is going on. We are also on FB, G+ and Twitter.
