I've called the cops today over some neighbours putting OTT loud rock and rock and techno music below. My god, it's 5 or 6 times I've had to endure them the last 2-3 months! I've finally caught my courage into my own 2 hands and have called the cops on them!

Did the cops actually do anything? It's very possible all you did by calling the cops is piss off your neighbors.
Some cops are great, others not so much.
If neighbors are being loud with their music, just find out when they work and when they sleep. Then blast your own music when they need to get their beauty sleep. If they complain, tell them you will stop when they do.
