And I need to get more members on it. I know it takes time and hard work, but are there any methods of promotion? I've tried directories, but it doesn't really do the job. I can't be bothered to invest in a domain! Any tips? 😕

Domain is the top thing no one wants to go to Yourdomain.namehere.com because it is a sub-domain and way to long to remember. They rather go to Yourdomain.com.
All the advice i can give is promote the hell out of it and make regular updates.

I'd suggest start doing post exchanges to start building up the activity. Starting posting around Fp to build up your FP Cash and doing some Forum Cash Exchanges and earning some more FP. You can also order a Posting Package or any other FP related services to help promote your forum. Good luck!

I don't have money to invest in a domain. But how come some other websites with subdomains, get popular anyway?

They succeed because of the following reasons.
1) They have a unique idea (I haven't seen a big board with subdomain, which doesn't have an unique content/niche).
2) The admin promotes/advertises it a LOT. He invests man power in it, instead of money.
3) Most of them exist for a so long time, and were started few years before, when there are not much forums to compete in their niche.

It isn't so hard to get a domain. You can do posting services in other people's forums in return for domain.
You can get people to buy you a .info for about 100 posts (Ace offers this service, not sure if he still does), and .com/.net/.org for about 200+ posts.
Trust me, you will have a good start with a proper domain, than making a negative impression with a sub-domain.

I would try to stay away from directories in my opinion. If I were you, I would stick to promotion sites (such as this one), and tell your friends about it.

Yeah! Directories bring a bunch of spams to your Forum.

That's probably why they are big. They are there for over 7 years.
As i said in my other post, at that time Forums were less and domain isn't a consideration. But now, people do look for sites with proper domain before joining.

I also forgot to mention that you should always place your header picture in your forum signature on any website that you frequently visit.

Having registrations disabled definitely are gonna harm your site. Just an FYI.

1. We are looking for moderators who will follow our forum rules. If you think that's you, PM me! - Moderate what exactly?
2. Ads, on a brand new forum, hosted for free, on a free domain. Oh dear God of Forums.

A. I meant moderate the forum.
B. I've tried to remove the ads on their admin panel. Unfortunately the ads still appear as a member 🙁

Wait, are they forced ads?

Then, sorry to say, but you should give up with your forum right now. The "can't be bothered" attitude is why you can't get members.

I'm not really sure. But I would have to get credits to remove the ads.

Move away from ForuMotion on onto real hosting while your forum is still small.
