The Bohemians, the punks, the metal-heads, would all love to hate on him, but like The Eagles, another gigantic mainstream act, he produced great music. Anyway, his stuff is definitely over-played. That would turn off a lot of people. But then again, they often overplay "the hits".

O.K. well another reason his music is interesting to me - is that he's from over the mountain in North Carolina (I live in Northeast Tennessee.). In fact, his music is highly influenced by Appalachian music along with the Blues, Brazilian music.

I like JT, but he (and John Denver, and Gordon Lightfoot, etc) certainly aren't cool. Their whole point is that their songs are earnest, and earnest is the anti-thesis of cool.
