I was schooled in a Catholic academy from grade school to college so I consider myself a sort of religious person. But I enjoyed watching the movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar because the presentation was both idiomatic and literal. The lyrics of the songs were kind of mysterious when you read between the lines. Even my classmates in the Catholic university loved that film. In fact, I have a dvd of that movie where before I bought a cassette tape.
