Questionnaire:
Is the site easy to navigate around?
Yes, I should say JokeTwist is easy enough for me to navigate around. With only one centralized navigation menu bar and several links, it is not too confusing. The content of available pages are also mostly short and straight to the point. Although some pages have strange layout, like the 'Membership Options' page. Seems to me you wanted to add a button to the end of the table to sign up for specific membership, but it didn't work. So far that seems to be the one thing to fix related to quick and easy navigation.
What do you think of the layout?... too basic or just right etc?
I have several concerns regarding the layout. Starting from the very front page, it takes too long for me to go to the main content, which is the joke twist area. There are too much spaces wasted from the navigation menu bar, to advertisement, to the one introduction line, to the 'Twist' button and the categories. The bottom white area is also not fully stretched to match the width of my screen (unless it is a resolution problem). Under 'Register' link I see a 'Logout' link when I didn't log in originally. The 'Register' and 'Competition' pages look rather messed up; you need to put more relevant information in those pages. For example, for 'Competition', you can put links to the on-going and old competitions. If I have to sum it up, the basic layout is already there, but they lack organization and coordination.
Based on your initial reaction to the site, Would you stay on the site for a reasonable period?
I must say that I am rather uncomfortable with the current layout. I did try to check out some jokes. At a time I chose 'Celebrities', 'Facts', and 'Movies'. What came up was a fun fact about phones. There were several grammatical errors of the joke, but otherwise it was readable. I feel that the font to the joke text is a bit too small, though. I think the content of the jokes is not too bad. Other factors I mentioned above made the stay overall not very comfortable. If they are improved, it is possible that it would give a better overall impression and a more enjoyable stay next time.
