Anyone tried the newest Joomla versions? What are your thoughts on it? It took me a couple months to get used to it due to being use to 1.5 but the same thing happened when 1.5 got released as I was sooo good at 1.0

I tried Joonla 1.6, and found it confusing compared to Joomla 1.5. It is an alright CMS for most newbies to learn how to use.

Joomla is a CMS for newbies? Okay, maybe you do not understand a thing about Joomla but lots of developers use it. Are you saying they're new?

A newbie can easily learn Joomla if they are motivated to learn Joomla 1.6 since it has a lot of support via Joomla.org forums, YouTube Tutorial videos, and Joomla help tutorial sites.

I certainly recommend Newbies start with Joomla as their first CMS which is easier to learn compared to other CMS like Drupal 6 or 7 which are more complicated to install, update, and maintain in my experience.

I am a Newbie CMS user, and know very little about php and web developement, and I learned just enough about Joomla to maintain it, post content, make minor edits, and change the theme, and add a few add-ons to my website.

I used Joomla for a few years until I switch to a HTML and CSS template based website for a few of my websites.

I've used Joomla since late '08 and I'm not a newbie to it. I've developed my own sites etc using html/css too.

I wasn't calling Joomla users Newbies. I just think Joomla is a great CMS for newbies to build a website because of the active Joomla user community and documentation which is easy to find support compared to lesser known CMS which might not have the support, and documentation which Joomla has.

Yeah maybe so. I like it because it's just so simple and I can focus more on the content than having to work out the actual template pages etc.

Indeed, I like that there are a lot of free templates I can download for Joomla which are high quality, and customizing the sidebar with links, plug-ins, extensions is also simpler then Drupal and older versions of WordPress in my experience.

The content writer/editor is also pretty nice.

I like the JCE content editor: http://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads

I've always used JCE. I also use JCK.
