phpbb2 and phpbb3 are different the templates are done in a different way no more .tpl files but instead you have html in a template folder

Well the host I used let me install the portal hassle free.

I couldn't get the phpbb 3 portal installed so I gave up and got help from YukonMaster to get a basic website going.
