I came across this webhost- Justhost.com and the offer is $41.72 for one year of unlimited disk space. How would you rate it? In simple words, is it a good deal or not?

Thanks

i also doubted on unlimited disk space. there would be some usage limitation i guess, but besides that, is it a good price?

It is unlimited, but it has a crappy support and VERY low CPU usage limit, so you'll have problems with it if you have an active and popular forum.

I used them and asked for a refund within 3 days. They gave it to me too. 😀
The reason was because of very strict MySQL settings.

Hosts which offer unlimited space/bandwidth actually mean uncapped. Most people on this forum will not need more than 200-300MB space to run a typical forum (unless everyone likes to upload big attachments).

This is terrible deal, if you ask me. The host I'm with gives you "unmetered" space for a fraction of that cost.

Mines too.

Unlimited is not possible, its a good deal though but I don't know what the host is like.

They say Unlimited meaning that you WILL have enough space. No one will ever overboard it :/

Justhost is terrible! They put lots of limits on the hosting even though it is unlimited. There support is very bad I requested mine within 1 week of using there service.

I used them more than a year ago so I dont know how they are now. Some hosts change their limits whenever they feel like it, improve or get worse over time.
The best advice I can give you is to go month by month. Don't sign up for a whole year.

Even if it is unmetered, at some point you will have to move on as the only things that are unmetred (unlimited) is space and bandwidth (or one or the other). CPU usage, memory usage, inode, email and other limits will still apply. If they were truly unlimited then companies like Google would be hosting their. The reason they aren't are because Google would go massively past the allowed CPU limit for starters. Some unlimited hosts are better then others though.

Most hosts that offer "unlimited" tend to over-sell their resources so you are left with slow/unreliable hosting.

My current host has gone the "unmetered" route as in they don't have a cap anymore. I have seen no significant changes in the quality of the service since they implemented it.

I say "unmetered" because usage is still monitored and they will require someone who shows excessive resource consumption to move to a different plan (as well they should).

To the person who said to month-by-month: I generally agree with that, but there are few exceptions. I have been dealing with my current host for over 5 years and they give deep discounts for going for 2 or 3 year plans. I only do that because I have known/done business with them for over 5 years 😀.

For those that want to know, my host is HostGator.
