Here's my tip for the day of keeping your passwords safe.

Use randomized passwords! If you're afraid you can't remember them, download a password library where you can store your passwords under another password. I.E.- I have Flyingbit Password Keeper, and I use another password to keep my passwords safe.

Flyingbit Password Keeper has been exploited and cracked for a while now... I.E itself is also unsafe. Storing your passwords on your computer and saving them in the program form is also unsafe...

The only safe way I've found is using FireFox with LastPass and a password genorator that I coded that spits out 32 character passwords that incluse higher and lower case letters, numbers, special characters and spaces...

i keep my passwords safe, it is jsut a messed up form of numbers and junk

You could always just put all your finals onto a flash drive like I do for all my server computer information 😉 or I purchased a second hardrive that it saves all information on that and keeps "website" content on the other one 😉 I plan to host my own website soon enough.

My passwords so hard that chickens would have to form a team in order to guess my password.

Why not just write it down on a piece of paper that you know will never leave your house? Isn't that the smartest way? Using technology to protect passwords isn't really smart as they can be hacked, faulty or you could forget the password to the password vault.

Yea, I wouldn't go to such an extent to protect a password. Writing it down is good enough for me.

I'm now using a different password for everything now. I have like 100 passwords now 😛

I store them in my pen drive, and only open the pen drive on my computer which is internetless. Never put that pen drive into a laptop/computer which has internet.

According to lastpass I have 34,312 passwords... All of them are 32 characters long... apart from this site lol. 🙂

I understand wanting to keep your password safe, and I understand not using the same password for more than one site, but honestly, more than 10 passwords is just plain too much. Also, what are you going to to if your computer crashes and your password-generator/rememberer program gets lost or the info gets wiped? Or if you forget your password for that program? You're stuck.

imo, just make a few really tough passwords that no one could ever guess and memorize them. It may mean trying a couple different passwords if you forget which goes with which site, and it means using the same password on multiple sites, but if your password is secure and you have it memorized or written down on a secure piece of paper, you'll be fine.

I use a generator for most of mine, and I save them as Opera notes. That way they're backed up onto Opera owned servers and I can get to them from any computer in the world, and my cell phone. It's the safest thing i've found to use, as long as my Opera account password is safe in my head so are my others 🙂

But what if the Opera servers are hacked?
I still think the best thing to do is to memorize passwords.

Yup.

Quite A lot aint it. From my time of being in the underground learning everything on staying anonimous and how to keep my accounts safe I've been fairly paranoid with my passwords. 😛

I don't normally join with a host or site that I don't think is secure... this was kinda a toss up. XD

If they're hacked, i'm 90% sure the hackers won't target me, i'm not worth it. If the servers are hacked, Opera will alert it's users, I will go through and change my passwords asap. Not a huge deal really.

I rather think they have something set up to wipe the servers upon breakin...

and he's right. I bet there are way more things to steal other than his crappy passwords. I bet there are a load of people that have paypal details there as well as costly scripts and such to steal as well as opera itself.

Opera's coldstart with firefox's warmstart into one browser along with some plugins and skins and there will be an end to all browser wars LOL.

also they'd prob just hack google instead. >_>

i trust with my self. and i trust with people. it defend to our self i think.

I think no need any tools to keep password safe, Memorizing is the best tool for its safety.

You'd be suprised on how many forums actualy record and show the admins what your password actualy is. You'd also be suprised on how many people sell these logs as they gained them legally...

They go for a lot of money on the black market. 🙂

They also even sell the MD5 hash's with them making them a load of cash for people who wish to set up a rainbow table. 🙂
