How good are you at keeping your forum software up to date? Do you upgrade as soon a new release has been released by the developers or do you tend to upgrade a while after or not at all?

I patch my forum as soon as a security update is released. With a major release, or a serious minor release, I update as soon as I get some decent themes ready.

I update normally a couple of days after the update was released just incase there is any major problems and it allows me to check mod compatibilities and see what common upgrade problems there are. The latest phpBB release took me a bit longer as it was much much bigger and it did cause problems with some of the mods we use.

I wait a week to sus out the new update and see if anyone else has any issues updating/after updating. If it's a major secruity release id update it straight away, no matter what.

I've only done one upgrade and I upgraded pretty much within the first week. It's best to upgrade because of the security issues.

I wait. I do not auto update, or as you might call 'an update freak'. If the software was good enough to be released then it is good enough for my board.

i don't update straight forward
i wait for a week after the release for reviews then i upgrade it on my XAMPP server and if it turns out fine then i update it on my host 🙂
