Hello,

It's sad sometimes the way people don't know how to work a computer. Technology is advancing and some people could figure out wether or not a computer is on or not just by looking at it. So now it's time to brush up on your knowledge and see if you can answer true to all the following requirements.

Here are the scores. Every time you mark a requirement with true, you get a point. Be honest and don't cheat, because let's be honest, it makes you look worse.

0 or 1 - No excuses at all.

2 to 3 - Disappointing really.

3 to 5 - Expectations were higher.

6 to 7 - Could have done slightly better.

8 to 9 - Good score I suppose.

10 - Well Done, have a cookie! 🙂

1. You can successfully turn a computer on (if you mark this as false, get out).

2. You are at least aware that System 32 exists

3. You know the difference between the 'computer' and 'monitor'

4. You are aware that the (standard) white thing in the screen is actually a 'cursor'

5. You know that sound can be configured (volume) on your computer, not just externally

6. You can successfully navigate and use Microsoft Word (any version) without being confused

7. You understand that the option is there to change web browsers (acknowledgment at least)

8. You know how to change your browser homepage & add favorites to it

9. You can perform a successful shut down of your computer by selecting the shut down option

10. You know that once an item is 'deleted' it goes to your recycle bin before permanent deletion

That's the end of the quiz! I should hope everyone here should score full marks with no excuses.

I'll post another quiz like post in the future, till then, have fun!

Respectable score. System 32 is the folder that pretty much supports your computer and makes it function correctly. Damaging it (by deleting things in it etc) could either stop your computer functioning or potentially break multiple features on it.

I know all of these, as I've been using a computer since I was 11 😛 So, 10/10 from me 🙂

I do have to be honest and say that I would expect that most that don't get 10 are because of the System 32 one. 9 Is still a good score though, good job! 🙂

This isn't so much a "do you know your computer?" test as much as it is "are you a completely incompetent moron?" test.

I seriously hope no one gets below a 9, but I expect that most everyone here will know what system32 is.

10/10. Boy I would had loved these kind of super easy quizzes back when I was in school.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you got a 9 dan 😛. Even when you remove files from the recycle bin they aren't deleted, how do you think things like microsoft COFEE find files? Anyone with the proper tools can uncover files unless the hard drive is completely filled or the files have been shredded 6 times or so.

What do you mean 'Microsoft Coffee'? Explain with proof then I will agree with defeat in this debate 😛

Oh and here are your big ass cookies (for those who got 9 or 10 marks).

I got everything, but MS word since I never really used MS Word 2007 and 2010.

It's a tool that's provided to law enforcement agencies which makes it easy for agents to do a boatload of crap with your PC without having any hacking knowledge. Basically Microsoft's script kiddie program that the feds use. Was leaked on the internet so I'm sure anyone that wants it could find it, or use the DECAF program to protect themselves against it.

And this is meant to see how much the average person knows of their computer. But more to the point though I didn't say that once it's gone from the recycle bin it's never ever going to come back no matter what.

Well, yeah. Files aren't really deleted once you empty the recycle bin, they're just marked as deleted by the system, which means you can still get them back unless the files get overwritten.

10/10.

And I'm not even a Windows guy, so half of those didn't apply to my everyday computer use. Mac ftw.
