I've never had a passion for programming so I'm a bit out of my league here but I was hoping I can get some advice on to how to resolve the loading issue for http://forum.languavel.net

We are just now starting to get a steady flow of activity and members are complaining about the load time and I am not quite sure how to fix this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you have cPanel access, look and make sure you're not over your monthly bandwidth plan. That could very well be the issue.

Well I had same experience with my forum, I did support ticket and my hosting fixed issue on their end. Try that its usually the best way to fix this. Sometimes the host has issue with servers and it causes slow speed on forums.

I would talk to your host. I ran a test on Pingdom, which is an awesome tool to use for this. You can take a look at the results here but I think it's pretty clear that most of the time was spent waiting for the host to initially load.

Thanks for the input guys... it's not the bandwidth apparently the host is saying that the problem is not on their end.

Any other ideas?

How many MODs/plug-ins are installed? If you have enough of those, it will slow your loading speed down.

A few tips:
1) You might want to take a look at the 'Advanced Details' from MyBB (at the bottom of all pages), which might show you if something's causing a bottleneck (e.g. SQL queries).

2) Perhaps you could cut down on the external resources in order to speed things up a little?

3) If your host allows it, using gzip compression is good to speed up the loading of your resources, though it doesn't appear to be the major problem.

not to throw the invented wheel out there but If you host with the same web host as in your sig, that could be your problem. If you choose to switch webhost I bet it will improve.

If you check here: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/cLhC2T/ ... uavel.net/, there are a lot of 404s for files. http://prntscr.com/72g2z8 which are significantly increasing loading time.

I've had our technicians look into the server. There were no network or load issues which is why you received the reply that the issue was not on our end. However, they've re-optimized the server.

If you fix those broken file locations, you'll find your site loads perfectly fine. 🙂

Not really though. As a member of that forum, I can say that it takes me several seconds to load a page. It's probably one of the slowest sites I currently use.

I think they should move to another host.

@Sharon, I can recommend you a cheap and fast webhosting company. I'm not looking to advertise it, so PM me if you are interested.

While the Languavel forum is loading reasonably fast for me and users on the forum have noticed a significant improvement in speed, we are always looking to improve.

The server this forum is on is in no way overloaded and has been optimized for faster loading. Load at the moment is 0.3.

We are going to be making a couple of announcements within the next 24- 48 hours around improvements to the holderhost service which should improve site loading time.

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words. This loading issue is still a work in progress but I am so glad to see some drastic improvement. From my computer there seems to be a delay when accessing http://forum.languavel.net . There is a loading delay on that main page for me, is this happening to anyone else? I've tried Safari, Opera, and Chrome. ...and they are all doing the same thing.

It's most likely a server related issue. Are you over monthly bandwidth? Have you received large amounts of traffic in a short time frame?

These can all be issues.

Thanks for your feedback Scorpio, does that mean you are experiencing the same thing when you access the main forum page? Which browser are you using? There is a 6-8 second delay for me using Chrome.

When I visited your site before it was quite a bit of a wait but now the loading is slightly faster although it still takes around 6-7 seconds to fully load which is noticable especially with your background slowly loading. It's most likely your host. What host are you using right now?

I experience the initial delay also. We are using Holder Host. 🙂

I have removed most of the 404 files but there are still a few left.

I've never used Holder Host personally so I can't say if it might be the cause. Have you guys contacted the hosts to see if its anything on their side?

I had trouble with GoDaddy so I moved to BlueHost and literally no more speed problems for me

I think the issue is with your forum and probably down to a bad plugin/extension. The reason I say this is because your Wordpress part of the site is fast. No initial delay or anything like that. That to me points more towards a MyBB issue rather than a server issue.

Try disabling all you MyBB extensions and see how much your forum speed up. If it does speed up alot, try enabling each extension 1 by 1 and see which one causes issues. Sometimes 1 bad plugin can cause alot of issues no matter how powerful the server is.

BTW I did email you a couple of weeks ago reporting an error registering and the suggestions above although received no reply.

Well speed is improved alot even on the forum, i just check, before it was slow not its quiet good looks like its fixed
