All of a sudden my laptop screen has become dim. I use a Toshiba. How do I fix it? It hooks up to an external monitor fine.

How old is the laptop? The notebook's monitor could just be dying.

Did you unplug your power cord? I assume there is an option in the taskbar for power options where you can alter the brightness.

This, too, but that would also alter the brightness if the laptop were connected to an external monitor (although it may not be as noticeable on the external monitor). xD

Is the screen dim to the point where you can't see it, or is it just less bright?

Tried opening and closing the lid at least 40 times. I'm still under warrent so I'll get them to look into it.

Odd. I love Toshiba, they make some good stuff.

Hope you get this fixed, and please post the solution.. if any! 😀

try you check the converter for lcd laptop, or the lamp at lcd ...you need to open to know it the converter power lcd and lamp...hope this can be help.

I just fixed a Compaq Presario V3000 laptop today that had a broken LCD screen in it. Sounds like the backlight (located inside the screen medal frame) could have went bad. (Thats what the two prong plugin is)
