I am kind of in a pickle at the moment, as I am looking for a laptop, but I heard that the tablet is just as good these days.
Is this correct? I really like the touch of the laptop keys, unlike the tablet which is touchscreen.
also is laptops on their way out? Or will they be around for a while?

I think if you are not in a hurry to get a laptop or tablet, you should wait for Windows 8 to come out.

Windows 8 supports most Windows 7 programs, and you can also connect a bluetooth or USB keyboard to it when you need a keyboard.

I like using a Tablet when I'm on the couch, or laying in bed to relax where a laptop is too heavy or hot to hold.

They will be around for quite a while that's for sure. I think if your are into social media, tablets are great. but if your using it for work in general, go for a laptop.

I don't like tablets it depends on what you are using it for tablets are only good for things like facebook, videos and some other things it really depends on what you want to use it for.

Honestly, not a fan at all of windows 8. And a tablet is good for casual usage, and the occasional hardcore internet mode, however, beyond that I don't think they can perform as well(my opinion).
It all depends what you're using the device for, so first you would have to decide that 😉

Depends on what you are using it for. A tablet is fine if you're just browsing the internet or tweeting on twitter, but if you're going to be going on forums then I'd suggest sticking to the good old laptop. I've got an iPad but it's not the same as typing on a physical keyboard.

You can also get Bluetooth Wireless keyboard and mouse to turn an iPad 1-3, Windows 7-8 Tablet, Blackberry Playbook, and higher end Google Android Tablet like the Asus Transformer Prime into a mini laptop for typing out longer e-mails, and posts if you feel you need a physical keyboard and mouse for typing and clicking on links.

There are also keyboard and touchpad combo docks like the keyboard dock for the Asus Transformer prime which can also extend your Tablet battery life by using your keyboard's battery to also charge your Tablet.

Lol, I read this as a table.
I would go with a laptop. I don't know I find it more reliable.

I agree buying both will solve your problem since fast tablets like the Google Nexus 7 with a Quad Core CPU, 1GB RAM, and 8 GB of storage cost 199.99 which is a great deal, and the iPad 2 is also cheaper since the release of the New Ipad 3.

Laptops and Netbook prices are also becoming more affordable.

When Windows 8 comes out, there would be laptop with built-in Tablet.

Yeah the Asus Transformer prime is the best tablet right now IMHO. I would not get a Ipad 2 because it does not support flash. The price is nutty for a Ipad and Asus is the cheapest brand around.

Get a tablet if you need to move around a ton. Get a laptop if you need to move around kind of alot.

Yeah wait for windows 8.

I think the assurances of a laptop outweigh the pros of a tablet.

Of course one would argue portability, but really consider how bad it would be using a laptop say on a train or bus. It's not that bad and you would not just go out and by a tablet based on that criteria or alike.

And really, if you think buying a tablet with a connectable keyboard is the way to go, then aren't you really just purchasing a laptop?

I can also assure you that laptops are in for the long run. They aren't going to be overtaken by tablets at any stage, IMO. So long as laptops can compete with the performances of desktops, and vice-versa in many cases, then they are here to stay.

I agree the Asus Transformer Prime is the best Google Android Tablet. Its battery life is 18 hours if you also dock it with the keyboard dock accessory which has a built-in battery, and 12 hours if you use it without the dock. It also has a Quad Core CPU, and 1GB of RAM which can run games and apps faster,

The webcam, and front camera is also very nice compared to the iPad 2's cameras. The dock also has a USB port and SD card reader for even more storage options.

A Tablet is great for people who move around a lot, but don't always have access to a power plug since some laptops need to be charged a lot because of bad battery life, and can't be charge quickly via USB like Tablets and Smartphones. A Tablet's wall charger adapter is also very small usually the size of a cellphone charger.

Tablets are also better for reading eBooks, and watching video on the go because you can use them anywhere comfortably by holding them with one hand without a table, and they are silent because they don't have noisy fans like laptops.

Laptops are better for people who primarily type a lot at a desk, and have access to a power plug for charging when the power is getting low.

Flash is dead. Dead dead dead. If it wasn't, then flash is terrible. But flash is dead.

-- 06 Jul 2012, 17:35 --

Get the iPad 2 or 3. Event the 1 would work.

Don't get any android tablet. please don't.

depends on what you need,
if you need to use applications like word processing and even games, go with laptop,

if you need something to just surf the web, and do minimal typing, like posts or status updates, go for a tablet,

I'd say it really depends on the situation, as well as what you would need more... if any.
I'd say tablets are mostly good for just doing things you like to do, playing games like Angry Birds, maybe it's better with charts and the like.... but Laptop would be more suitable for more important uses.... I'd say.

I like Laptop more than Tablet. Because, laptops are easy to use and looks very stylish. So, i like laptop much.

I find Tablet easier to use when picking and installing software because Google Play, or the iOS App store has a lot of user reviews which I can read to know if the App is worth installing, and how much space it would take up on the Tablet's memory.

Also, I notice Tablets performance stay the same over time like the day I bought it with little maintenance since I don't need to do disk defrags, disk clean ups, scan disks, and manually install updates to maintain a Tablet's performance over time like a Windows computer which requires Windows Updates, manually updating software like OpenOffice, disk defrags, registry cleanup, antivirus and spyware scans, and disk clean ups to maintain the disk and Operating System performance.

I like tablet for its mobility and much easier to bring during travel while I like laptop for idea of installing software like graphic editing software and others that really requires a huge amount of space and memory.

If you want to game use a laptop. If you want to use it for browsing the web and creating simple documents then get a tablet!

I mean you can obviously play games on a tablet, but they cannot play your latest high tech games.
