So, by large admin forums, I mean any forum with more than about 100,000 posts which caters to, almost exclusively, forum administrators. The main examples of these I can think of are FP, TAZ, and the support forums for the various forum softwares. Forums like DigitalPoint probably don't count, as they are more for webmasters in general than forum admins.

What other forums are out there that I didn't mention? Remember, I'm only talking about forums with 100,000 posts or more. I'm kind of curious to see which admin forums a significant amount of y'all hang out at.

I don't really go on any other forums at the moment, but I really couldn't find any other ones of that size that aren't completely dead. If they're out there, they must not be doing too well in the SEO department. 😛 I think that's why FP has done reasonably well for so long; we've been able to stay afloat and a lot of people are already here.

Yeah, I couldn't find any via google either. 😛 So, would it actually be true to say "There are only two forums which cater to an admin audience (other than official support forums): TAZ and FP?"

😱

Yeah some of the areas are inactive, but I did see the admins login still. Shame to see forums like this go dead, especially with that amount of posts.

Yeah. :|

For those of y'all that use Digital Point, etc, do they have interesting admin-related discussions there, or is it all just webmaster stuff?

They do have a section specific to Forums and some of the time you can get decent discussions in there.

If we get more forums dedicated to Admins, that are large, I probably would love to join them.

Large forums in terms of high stats are fine, that's just more content to enjoy. I'm not a fan of large forums, admin niche or others, that have tons and tons of members. I want to be able to know most people. So many big forums I've joined have been so huge that I post one place and see one set of users and post in the next category and I get a whole other set. When a forum is basically a bunch of small communities on one site, you might as well split up.

I only know of and use TheAdminZone and ForumPromotion both specialising in slightly different niches but can be classed as the same. Generally there are a lot smaller ones but none as large as TAZ or FP!

Over 160,000 posts.
I used to be an admin there though. It hasn't been the same since Aws sold it. Now, it's dead in the water and the new owner doesn't care to work on it.

They have this forum called forum management that has over 45k posts and almost 6k threads. https://forums.digitalpoint.com/forums/ ... gement.64/

Ugh at TAZ lmao. It's a shame that there really is only one main admin site(TAZ) because that niche could definitely use some major improvements and not be dictated by the taz 'standard'.

But would we really consider FP an admin forum though? Personally I think this site has the memberbase and potential to become the new it admin forum if it markets itself as such.

I am a member of a few admin forums but they are either dead OR small.

There is also Admin-Talk but they are pretty much dead. Most admin forums are pretty much going downhill these days. Having lots of posts doesn't mean they are active though.

I would say FP is currently not very admin focused but I agree that FP has some potential if marketed correctly but there is a lot of work that needs to be done.
