When's the last time you painted a room?

For the first time ever I hired a pro to paint our entryway and upstairs hallway because the entryway is 2 stories high and I'm not getting on a ladder. He did the ceiling so far and then canceled for today so hopefully he returns tomorrow.

When's the last time you painted a room?

Last year I helped my girlfriend paint our bathroom. It's not very big and she did most of it.

Being a perfectionist I have no choice but to do all the painting, decorating and DIY at home. I'm about to move house so I'll be somewhat occupied for the remainder of the year

Going slightly off-topic, the first thing most people do when they are DIY painting a room is stick a paint brush in a can of paint. This is something you should never ever do but why?
