Has anyone here ever been curious about working in the Law Enforcement Field?

I want to work as a Police Officer when I turn 20. I work up from UMC, Our colleges hospitals campus, patrol, to city officer 🙂

My dream is to be a Police Officer. I wanna be out patrolling and responding to calls.

Unfortunately, due to my medical issues, it'll never happen.

I have studied allot into L.E. and everything surrounding it, so I'm pretty wise.

Would a spy count as part of the Law Enforcement. Then yes.
Law Enforcement is enforcing the law. To me, even chuck norris is law enforcement

Nah. Sounds like a crappy job. They have to work all hours of the night, weekends, holidays, risk their lives every day, etc etc.
Someone else can go attempt to clean up all the gangsters, hookers and crack heads.

A police officer is not just shooting people like on TV. There's a lot of work involved and a lot of emotional distress that can happen. Like theezy said, new cops are usually put on foot patrolling shitty areas with hookers, gangsters, and crackheads everywhere.

But as for me, I plan to go into Law Enforcement by attending the Coast Guard Academy and once I pay my time back to them, I'd apply with the FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, or some other federal law enforcement agency.

Yeah, it is a lot of office work and of course, non valuble jobs like walking around one area, but of course I still would like to do it.

I always wanted to be a copper, did work experience with the Met which was amazing even if it was a quiet day. However due to medical problems I now cant join 🙁 If the medical problems are resolved in the future then I may look into joining, but it all depends what my situation is at the time.

With law enforcement, you don't know if the car you just stopped has a mother and her two kids or a crazy crackhead. It's a thankless job, and a respect all law enforcement out there, but the job is not for me.

Police academy isn't for me either, including the part where you have to get sprayed with pepper spray. All police officers have to carry it (at least in my state), but most would never use it. That stuff is nasty.

I've never really had any serious intention of taking a job related to law enforcement.

I plan on going into law enforcement in the future, after I do my time in the service. A little over a year ago I did the Citizens Police Academy with a local department. One of the pluses was a ride along with the local PD which was pretty cool. We got to go about 85mph through town to back another officer, and I also got to drive a cruiser during a demonstration.

You make amazing money going into law enforcement. But it's just not for me.

You can also make amazing money as a doctor, pharmacist, lawyer or drug dealer.

Maybe as a drug dealer.

I respect all cops and related out there, and I would be interested in a career in law enforcement.

Depends for what. Your town's cop isn't making a fortune, probably just getting by. Plus, like another person said you may have to work nights, weekends, and holidays. My half brother used to work as a cop for some time, he's a full time marine though now.

City cops make crap, like 40 or 50 k a year, in my area though, Suffolk County, a new cop makes close to 100 grand, it's crazy..

And everyone gets there thrills from different things Kino. Some might get thrill from saving lives as a doctor or thrill from arguing a case in a courtroom.

I don't care about pay at most jobs I get, however I get good pay from my current job, though I would not like to work in a Fast Food chain for the rest of my life. I like helping people, and of course putting away those who are less-than-valuable.

But it also costs a lot more to live on Long Island. Garbage collectors in the city earn more than teachers upstate.

No thanks. If I wanted to become corrupted I'd definitely join the police, but I don't so no.
