I think I'm going to leave here again. Unless you guys don't want me to leave.
The last time I left was because people were telling me to not use forumotion and get a domain. Now all I'm getting is people telling me not to use icyboards and get a domain.
I really don't like people telling me what hosts I should or should not use. I hate when people tell me my forum isn't going to grow because I'm using icyboards. I am tied of people telling me to get a domain. I do want to have a successful forum, and it shouldn't matter what host I'm using. If free hosts shouldn't be used then their shouldn't be any free hosting at all.
I am so sick in tired of it. I came to advertise my forum but all I can get from this place, like I said, is people telling me what hosts to use and to get a domain.
I'm about to leave, or do you guys want me to stay?
People are probably saying this to you as a suggestion, they are wanting for your forum to be the best it can possibly be. They are not trying to say it in a negative way but in a more constructive way. Some people do not like free hosts and not having a proper domain, however you are the admin and it is your decision, and you do not have to listen to the people saying to change, as it is your forum and you can do what ever you want to do with it. And if you are getting members then you are doing something right, the members who are saying to you to get a new domain, are just trying to look out for you. So stay and don't mind the others, and continue with your forum.
I am also using a free forum host! And am also sick and tired of people saying I need to use a paid host and get a domain!! I'll do it when I want to 🙂

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of people being told that they need to use paid hosting either. Forum Promotion started on Free Forums, and we averaged a thousand posts per day at one time. I've seen at least a few successful forums on Forumotion and other hosts like that. It's true that it IS better to use paid hosting, but if your forum is interesting enough, people will join it even if it's on free hosting.
I used a free host with no paid domain many years ago and we had hundreds of members. I can see why it has been suggested to you and people being people just are trying to help, thinking that maybe it's in your interest. It does not matter paid or not, it's what you are doing on your forum that counts that is making it grow and if your happy with that then so be it. I hope you decide to stick around.
The host really doesn't matter. Sure there will be those people that refuse to join unless you get paid, but you can still get a successful forum out of forumotion or zetaboards if you want to. 🙂
