I have been with the staff since July 2014, filling varying positions, and I can say it has been a long ride. Some of which I have had fellow staff (and former staff) during varying stints as different roles, feeling like they need to backstab me for varying reasons; all of which I have forgiven for their behavior they had felt was warranted to climb ranks fast, instead of truly helping the place out.
During my long stint here, I have filled the role of an Administrator, for a total of 3 years; part of which I had been instrumental in helping form new rules and guidelines to different things as needed. I also filled the role of a moderator and team leader, during my 5 year stint, which I was able to see how different roles during different times, helped out to form what was a good service. Regardless of being an Administrator, moderator or team lead, I got to see staff come and go (some come and leave, with good intentions; others, not so much).
I can say, all of which, I enjoyed working the most with people who really wanted to help bring a positive contribution to the forum, regardless of promotions or transfers to different positions.
Thanks to the various members and former staff over the years that have helped me make decisions on what was needed to be done over the years.
I'll still be around here, but I am looking to tend to personal projects, and anything else that comes my way.
I'm sorry to hear that Joshua. You were always committed to FP in an exemplary way through your dedication. You stuck with FP through many questionable times and without you, I'm fairly certain FP would've died long ago.
Jumping ship before it sinks eh? Don’t blame you one bit. Whatever happens to FP least you know you done your bit for it!
Perhaps you could give your speculation as to what you think regarding the main topic at hand? How do you feel this place needs to adapt? Now you’re one of us *chants* one of us one of us.
Sorry to hear you’re leaving the team @Joshua Farrell, I’ve enjoyed my time spent working alongside you and I wish you only the best with your future endeavours. I hope to continue seeing you around and look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments.

Yeah. Well, there were always things I felt that could have been added, that would have made staff jobs easier, but regardless of who was running the show, I got the "I don't want to mess up implementation" vibe. Usually was stuff that just had to have back end settings worked on. One of the "easier stuff", would have been moving package requests and deductions through the shop addon. All that had to be setup to work correctly, was formatting the purchase items to notify staff, on when a package was purchased. There were other stuff, but things need to improve first, before I probably would remake most of the suggestions, except maybe one or two of them.
All that is left is the few moderation members, package, coding and blog staff.
The Community team obviously is the moderation team. Coding (Malcolm), fixes things on the back end, that may creep into something somewhere. Packages and blog writing are pretty much self explanatory. 😉
I know this is not exactly new, but it came around the time I returned to my trip and I didn't reply to this thread the way I wanted so I'll try to do it here.
You have to do what you feel is right for you. I am sure this is something you thought about for long enough.
It was always a pleasure working under your umbrella and I am grateful for the guidance you provided during the times I've volunteered on my own stuff.
I hope everything goes well with whatever projects you are chasing and it is nice to know you are not leaving FP entirely.
Shiiiit.
Didn't see this one coming :O I pretty much associate you and FP together these days
My personal opinion of your managing skills and administration has always been positive and have always seen it as unbiased. Sad to see people feel the need to backstab.
FP has always had an issue with staffing the forum effectively. The staff to user ratio has often been out of balance and the teams also do not always have the right amount at all times.
Where FP could improve is hand picking moderators rather than asking for applicants. Reducing the admin team (as of writing there’s one moderator and like what four admins?).
This is just my opinion but I can understand the frustrations. I applied for a moderator position because being a moderator is fun and something to do, I’m sure plenty more users would also step up too.
