Do you allow members to make goodbye threads or leaving the forum type threads on your forum? I have allowed them but do not like them and recently I'm thinking of trashing the ones that only mean to bash my forum. If it's not benefiting my site, why would I allow it to remain visible?
Most have hello and goodbye threads but that's when they going to bed and getting up or when they log into the site, but nit a goodbye thread to leave the site for good. I tend to like hellos and welcome back threads then goodbye
If it’s dramatic, then no. If it is because life is causing it or they are sick and they want to tell their friends goodbye, then that would be fine. But people mad over rules and that isn’t to post those topics. I’ll delete the topics and ban the accounts.
best to nip toxic members in the bud while you can before it turns into something way worse.
Some people might have good intentions with them! I remember being a part of a forum for a long time. Later I realized I would not be able to keep up with the daily posts there anymore so I decided to tell everyone good bye. A lot of the other forum members were really close friends!
I second what @Empire & @lludawg said. I too like the Hello/Goodbye of when someone comes on the forum.
My forum is new so I only had a few members leave. None made a thread to explain.
Some may want to bow out quietly. Others may have made several friends & want to explain why they are leaving & may want to still keep in touch. As long as there's respect, I would allow a Goodbye thread.
Members come and go all the time, and end of the day most members and staff aren't that fuss about members making threads saying they are going to be leaving and not coming up, It looks bad on the site..
