How can a website or forum owner protect themselves from being suied for content uploaded by the sites users? If I have a forum, and moderate content, then by law I'm considered a publisher of content and my be liable for any content uploaded by users. What other legal matters should be considered before going live with a website or forum?

Do a web search for "web legal disclaimer" ... and once you find something you can work with, reword it to suite your needs and place it in an obvious area of your website.

Also search for terms such as "website/content/liability/copyright" etc.

In my early web voyage, had a folder with several online/media legal docs, so will try and find them for you later today.

You may want to peruse our current website/forum rules, as there may be some sections that suite your needs: http://www.okanaganforum.com/rules.html

Hope this helps?

All the best,
Cal 🙂
