A guy has sex with his girlfriend who told him she was 17, so it would be legal (legal where they live mind you), but afterwords she revealed she was 14 and had him charged with statutory rape.

Who should be blamed, and what should happen to either individuals if you think punishments should be issued?

For me, it depends on the situation. These days, 14 year olds look like they're 17, so it'd be really hard to tell (in some cases). Sometimes, it's very easy to tell how old she is, while others, you're left wondering. The girl should go to jail, however, depending on where they live, 14 year olds might not be eligible for jail, and will be put on probation or sent to a juvenile detention center.

They're both kids, they should act like, hell, I still bust out the action figures every once in awhile(reason kept secret), lol :cheer:

Well I would punish the woman with community work, and then when she was old enough for prison, I'd put her in there for 4 years or more, but somehow punish the man but not as bad.
I think you should be having sexual intercorse with someone when your about 21 or over.

The age of the guy wasn't revealed, so that's a bit of random guessing.

What a world we live in! For this man to realize his "girl friend" is actually 14 and not 17 indicates to me that either; he was not with her long enough or simply didn't care. What I don't understand is the behavior of this young lady, why would she have a man have sex with her and then charge him with rape? Seems to be happening more then ever, would someone care to explain.

Both of them are guilty. It's beyond me to believe that this guy did not realize that his "girl friend" was only 14. What shocks me is the fact that this girl allowed that to happen and then presses charges against this guy. Mind you we don't have all the information therefore it's hard for me to make a fair judgment. The only advise I have for these people is to seek counseling.

Well, if this girlfriend of his was fairly developed, etc. Possibly a Fake ID. It would be quite hard to tell if she was 14 or 17. I would charge the female. But in the corrupt judicial system we have, women win most court cases.

Yeah the women always win most of the times. In this day of age, we probably have to ask these girls for their IDs before actually even consider going out with them.

That statement is quite redundant.

Now the country this happened in wasn't provided, but I know in the states it doesn't matter if a minor lies to a person and says they are legal even if they aren't, the adult is still responsible.

While I don't care about this particular case, you should know somebody at least long enough to know their age before you bang. Seriously, people are treating sex these days like it's shaking hands.

If only it was that easy 😛

But I agree, you should at least know they are underage, let alone 3 years younger.
