I wasn't sure where to put this so I decided to put it here. Mods can move it to a better place if it needs to be moved. 🙂

Anyway, I am due for an upgrade and I am thinking about getting the LG G3 or the HTC One M8 but I want to see what you guys say about the devices.

Here are my Pros & Cons for each.
LG G3-
Pros:
1) 4 buttons at the bottom
2) 5.5 inch screen (I want a bigger phone than 5 inches with this upgrade)
3) Popup messages that you can reply to that do this BY DEFAULT
4) Removable/Replacable Battery
5) MicroSD Card Slot
6) Never used it on my S4 but it is cool... Wireless Charging
7) Takes the same SIM card as my S4 (Micro) so if I were to return or something happened to it I could easily put it back in my S4.

Cons:
1) Speaker on the back. Tired of my S4 with that speaker.
2) Review on PocketNow states that default Weather app is usually wrong. I liked that weather app.
3) Buttons on the back. Not sure about those.
4) Never used it on my S4 but it is cool... No NFC

HTC One M8
Pros:
1) Speakers on the front
2) HTC phones last forever!
3) MicroSD Card Slot

Cons:
1) Only 3 buttons on the bottom
2) Never used it on my S4 but it is cool... No Wireless Charging
3) Since it takes a smaller SIM card (Nano), I can't switch back and forth between my S4 if something happened to the One M8.
4) Stupid HTC bar that does nothing and will confuse the living HELL out of me until I get used to the device.

As you can tell from the Pros & Cons list I am leaning more towards the LG G3 but the speaker is killing me. I hate having to place my phone down on it's face in order to hear the speaker how it is supposed to be...or cup my hand to hear it in a restaurant or busy place.

I am also considering the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 when it comes out but I am impatient and not sure I can wait that long. Lol. Plus, I wanted to try and get away from Samsung with this upgrade. I've owned their S3 & S4 and have major problems with Touchwiz/hardware that is in them. BOTH versions I've had major issues.

Also, considering the Nokia Lumia 1020. While T-Mobile doesn't sell this, I could purchase it outright and use it. Reason why I don't is because I am an indecisive person so I like the customization that Android has BUT I owned the HTC HD7 (Windows 7/Vista device) and actually kept that phone for 2-years...as opposed to the 6 months to 1 year of the devices since.

Anyway, I wanted to know what y'all think. In your opinion, from what I have put here, Which phone do you think I should get? I want to make it one I will not return within the first 14 days. I want to try and keep it for 2-years as well and that is hard with the Android OS becoming outdated so fast.

I have an HTC One M8 and love it. I upgraded from the iPhone 5 and I can't go back now. The bar thing will annoy you at first but you'll get used to it and eventually not even realize it's there. It doesn't bother me anymore and the phone sounds and looks great. 🙂

Yeah, the phone is good. Event through all of the G3's flaws...(speakers mainly) I think I still want that as opposed to the M8.

Is the G3 the one with the buttons on the back of the phone? I'd find that realy annoying/cumbersome to use.

Yes there are buttons on the back. A majority of all LG phones are following that model. However, the G3 buttons are a bit different in design than previous models.

The LG G3 looked cool and all, but personally I wanted the LG G Pro 2. A lot better on the features list too. Only problem is it is a bit bigger in size. I was waiting for a western release to upgrade, but my previous phone went kaput. (A surge protector I had my router & phone on did not protect either my router or phone & fried them). I recently picked up a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. Pretty much identical in features with 4k recording & such so can't complain.

Ugh. I hate the S5. It is too blue!!! My mom wants to get it and I won't stop her (she loves her s3) but I keep telling her the OS is too blue. Plus I notice that blue burns in faster on those AMOLED displays. Hence why the S5 is no where near my list. Lol

I'd really give the M8 a look to be honest. I was looking at the S5 as well and didn't get it for the same reasons you listed, Erin. 😛 That nasty burn-in. 😛

Was not my first choose of phone, but it is alright for features wise. My only complaint is the stupid prompts & a few bloat ware things. (Active comes with some server sync exercise stuff that they so called not monitor for you. Yet it is much stronger in design). Some of the prompts really make me question how stupid these companies think some of us are. For example, as soon as I unplug from charging I get a large white background prompt saying something along the lines of, "Be sure to cover the charging port with the cover again after charging". It is like, "No really, I was just going to leave the thing hanging there to get in my way".

What blue OS deal are you talking about? Maybe it is something in the non Active version, because I am not quiet sure what you are referring too.

Like all of the notification stuff in the notification bar is blue. And same with the dialer and everything else. Idk if you didn't own an s4 or s3 you wouldn't notice it but I do and I don't like it. Lol

Nope, never owned a Samsung phone or tablet at that matter. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is my first one. Which to be honest does not look much different in terms of color over my previous phone. That being a Motorola Atrix HD 4g version. Which was designed with Google, before they sold Motorola off.

Honestly, the difference is the notification button bar is a little lighter blue. You can disable that, get a third party theme like nova or others launchers to leave TouchWiz, or possibly root the device for more changing. Not sure how Samsung see's routing, but some companies even help you do it. Even that new gaming oriented android system from MadCatz has a support line that helps root the device. (This is not meant as you should get it due to that. All I am saying is if I ever get in your shoes I will do one of the following). 🙂

Makes sense.

I ended up deciding on the LG G3. I love this phone. Anyone else have it?

I gotta go with the HTC One M8, because I've always liked the look and feel of HTC devices. However, in general I would say the LG G3 is the best phone overall, as it is slightly more powerful and has more RAM, not to mention a bigger screen (as mentioned) and it looks a lot better compared to the G2 imo.
